Have shot the GL-1 over the last year+ and have been generally happy with its performance. Looked for a second camera and decided to get a couple more features and purchase the XL-1s. Couple questions for long time users.

- Audio servo noise: Can hear the servo action during zoom. The Mic is resonable, just need a better holder. There is another mic adapter listed in the accessories, any comments?

- What setup level adjustment do you use to shoot 7.5 black? Seems +3 steps is about right, but I have an okay software waveform.

- ND Filters: On the GL-1, had to use a .9ND filter with the on camera ND to shoot in the 5.6 range in Arizona sun. Shot a bit today and seems the on Camera ND throws in more than a couple steps. Any comments, help? Was shooting 5.6, 1/60 just fine.

- Any other tips and tricks I should know off hand?

I have never seen anyone do a true side by side comparison of the XL-1 and GL-1, so as time permits I will try to post some observations. Shooting today, given good lighting and proper setup, I am still very impressed with the GL-1 quaility. Will have more to say after a shoot this weekend.

Thanks for the help/comments/thoughts in advance.

Howdy from Texas,

I'm qualified to address only a couple of your questions:

<< Audio servo noise: Can hear the servo action during zoom. The Mic is resonable, just need a better holder. There is another mic adapter listed in the accessories, any comments? >>

The three LightWave Systems accessories are an absolute must. They are required by law. Read about each in the Articles section of the Watchdog.

See the User Tips page on the Watchdog. Hope this helps,
