I have been browsing the net a bit and found some great prices. I am fully aware of the nyc shops advertising a great price and then trying to sell me the charger for 500 bucks. I am also aware of gray market cams with no warranty. However, I went through cnet and bizrate and found some prices for the VX2100 around $2200. These included ibuydigital.com and Abes of maine? Any experience with these vendors? This alot of money for me and I need the best deal possible but also need a good reliable vendor and a product with factory waranty.
Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks

A couple years ago or so when I was looking for a Sony VX2000 (the VX2100 wasn't even anounced then yet) I found some places selling it for under $2000. Of course they all turned out to be grey market. Eventually we purchased the camera from Family Photo and Video (www.familyphotoandvideo.com) for about $2250. It came in the factory sealed box with all original accessories and full US warranty. In fact, a little less than a year later I did experience some problems with the camera (something wrong with the head), and I sent it off to the Sony repair center for repair under warranty with no problems.

That was my experience, anyway. Hope it helps you. I can't say if Family Photo and Video is still a good place to buy from or not. I only purchased from them once. If you want to make pretty much sure you don't have a problem then you should buy from a place like B&H.

I remember a lot of Abe's of Maine bashing over at Camcorderinfo awhile ago. I'd stay away from them.

B&H selling the VX2100 for $2,350! I don't remember them being nearly that low when I got the VX2000. They've come down quite a bit.
