Has anyone tried doing "serious" video editing on Linux? I've had a look at the website for Cinerella and it certainly looks very impressive.

Also, does anyone know if Cinerella will take advantage of the processing power available on PCI Express graphics cards?

Thanks,
Jack

I've not heard of anyone here actually using Cinerella or perhaps
some other products that might be available for Linux.

Great, thanks for the reply.

Anyone else tried Cinerella?

the biggest prob with running *nix video editing is driver compatibility with firewire capture cards, software capture and codecs processing back and forth. actually that's a pretty major ordeal. so unless *nix sorts all of that stuff out, it'll be very hard to edit on *nix hardware... unless you have the cash, patience and knowledge to program all these software to take advantage of the hardware. in short... don't try it unless you are george lucas.

on the other hand, the communities which do support free NLE such as cinelerra are growing. =).
