I've been trying to shoot in frame mode using my XL1s and all I get is a strobe like images in the view finder which is then recorded on tape.

Can anyone please enlighten me better on the appropriate shutter, iris etc settings that would compesate for a clean motion like images on canon XL1s NTSC please.

By the way I haven't opened my newly purchased XL2 on my last trip to the U.S.A untill I resolve this frame mode problem

I don't have one, and I will check it out as soon as I have one, but I think the shutter speed should be 1/60 or something like it...? I could be wrong, but I thought I read that here on the forum.

This is assuming you have seen and are familiar with the look of 30 fps (faux 30p) footage, and don't consider that "strobe-like", which it is in comparison to 60i standard mode?

Thanks Mathieu,

I'll be looking forward to learning from further information from you.

Thanks Charles,

I really haven't seen neither am I familiar with 30fps footage. If that's the way it looks, are there ways to make it look more of 24fps?

I shot all my XL1S stuff with frame mode at a shutter of 1/50th
(would be 1/60th for NTSC) at 25p (I'm in PAL land). Keep in mind
that as with film you need to take more care with doing pans,
camera moves and moving subjects to avoid strobing. Usually it
is a sign you are moving things too fast.

p.s. 24 fps will pick up even more strobing faster!
