First I downloaded some full res example clips from the new Sony HDV FX1 here:
http://www.hdvinfo.net/media/kakugyo/

I did a test on one of the interlaced clip , not the fake 24p ones.

I did a 2:3 pullup from HDV res 60i to DV res 24p. I also did a normal interlaced scale from HDV res 60i to DV res 60i. I transfered both results to DVD mpeg and I was amazed of the results on my projector. Both looked THE SAME quality sharpwise, STUNNING ! This was wonderfull to see since if you do a 2:3 pullup from DV res 60i to DV res 24p, you loose a lot of the sharpness because of the field blending.

I'm very happy with this test and I wish I could post the DVD mpegs to show it, but I have no web space ( can somebody help me out ? )

It surtainly looks very interesting to me now to shoot HDV 60i with the FX1 and transfer it to DV 24p for stunning reults !

Of course ... HDV 60i to HDV 24p will most likely loose sharpness because of blending fields, But I can't test it out right now. No HDV support yet. Nag nag nag ...

Also. Using the XL2 will give stunning results in native DV 24p without all these convertion out of the box, but the price tag is like between $3700 for the FX1 and $5000 for the XL2.

We'll see .

Frank, what process did you use to convert to 24p? This usually involves software to perform interpolation of frames to create the "missing" frames.

What programs open those M2T files ?

I'd like to try my own 60i to 24p tests and I have the space to hold it.
