Yes, it is all over the news in my country here. Theo was a fighter
for freedom of speech (which we basically do have here) and spoke
his mind on anything. Very very saidly he was murdered this
morning while he was completing his work on a movie that was
a form of a documentary about the murder on a politician here
a couple of years back who also spoke his mind.

Very, VERY said indeed.

It's sad that murder for political expediency is a fact of life, the world over. Even the USA isn't free of this kind of behavior. <insert your favorite deity, here> save us all.

Technically, he still does:

“The historical decree on Salman Rushdie is irrevocable and nothing can change it,” the elite Revolutionary Guards said. (http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_15-2-2003_pg7_50)

He also has been previously banned by some airlines, including Air Canada (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/1883670.stm)

I always wanted to know what cameras theo van Gogh used in his films. I can't ask him that now he is death. The world is a cruel place. We have to accept it. Make the best of your live now that you can enjoy it before it is too late. I am an foreigner in Holland (spanish). This situation will not only affect the moslims but also those who have nothing to do with these terrorist acts.
