I'm trying to get a quick comparison on the XL2 and VX2100. I have a short film project comming up and we are trying to decide on the better camera. I'm sure the Xl2 is better but we already have the vx2100 (might rent the XL2).

Thanks

These cameras are really completely different beasts with the XL-2 offering many additional features as you might expect for a camera that costs twice as much as the VX-2100.

Just off the top of my head here are some of the XL-2 advantages over the VX-2100:

1. XL-2 has interchangeable lenses
2. XL-2 shoots true progressive scan at 24 and 30 fps
3. XL-2 has true 16:9 widescreen
4. XL-2 has many more image adjustment parameters which can be customized.
5. XL-2 has XLR microphone inputs with phantom power

The VX-2100 is a good camera however and some things going for it. It's smaller and lighter than the XL-2, it runs for a long time on the NP-F960 battery, it has better low light response and of course it costs much less.

Thanks it's good enough information to go rent the XL2. I just wanted to get an idea of how both compared.

Thanks
