Hi!

I'm looking at a 2nd camera and already have an XL1s.As quoted by the sponsors here on the dvinfo.net community, a XL2 body kit is $3600...about the price of a DVX100a...hmmmmmmmm :P...oops anyhooo, with the full body kit going @ $4300, that seems like quite a steal for a $1500 lens. However, the $700 difference, I figure could be used for other stuff *I'm oogling a firestore FS-4 DTE right now.*

I already have a 16x manual lens for the XL1s, so I can mix and match the manual and 16x ISII on the XL2. I guess the question is to all you lucky XL2 owners is how much value would I be losing without the 20x lens? Is it that much on an improvement over the 16x ISII? Has anyone tried using the 16x ISII with an XL2?

Thanks,

Joe

The 16x IS II works fine with the XL2. If you don't get the 20x lens, you're giving up the longer focal length, the ability to pre-set a repeatable rack focus move or pre-set a repeatable zoom, and the higher quality fluorite glass. If you can live without those features, then the 16x should be fine for what you're doing.

Can you still do those things with the 3X Wide Angle Chris?

The features I listed above are unique to the 20x L IS lens only.
