Can anyone tell me how to get a black background for the Quick Time screen?

The default is white and I can't find a place to change the settings.

Thanks, AL

I'm not sure if this is what you are needing, but you can insert the slug on a track to have it all black.

Hello Joe,

I am not quite sure what you are referring to. Is a slug a dark video segment?

After I play a clip, I have a plain white background on the QT player.

As this will be inserted into a black web page, the white really jumps out at you. I would like to have a black background so it will blend with the overall page.

Thanks for your help.

Regards, Al

Alan:

The slug is just a blank video segment that renders as black. open the effects window and it's in the video filters folder in the video generators folder.

I'm not quite sure where you have the white. Is it at the end of the clip (after you play the clip) or is it above and below the clip, like a border?

If you have a 16 x 9 clip (or non 4/3) and the white is above and below the clip you can add a track, put the slug on it and drag the track below your current track. Or... you can crop your clip when you export it to Quicktime, which will remove the borders and you won't need the slug.

Good luck...

Joe,

After the clip has played, the player stays open with a white screen.

Thanks for the quick info.

I'll give it try.

Joe,

My version of Premiere (ancient) did not have a slug in those folders.

I went into Photoshop and created a black 320 x 240 image selected and copied it, and went into QT Edit and Added it.

Seems to work fine. It is there when the player opens and there when it closes.

No apparent problems that I can see.

Thanks for the ideas.
