I'm thinking about buying a van for moving all video equipment, (My wife's too jealousy with her new SUV) and would like to know if there someone out there that can share some ideas, advise, etc, Pictures will be great.

Anyone?

My third Chevy Astro Van: http://home.mindspring.com/~ricks-pics/responsevehicle/

It also has a diamond plate platform that will take the weight of 2 people and an camera and tripod, as well as a custom built, extruded aluminum ladder to access the platform.

I've seen several good versions of production vans tricked out for generic use. Basically, they all had a "cage wall" with a door in it to seperate the front seats from the back section. Anchor tracks along the walls for attaching straps, (various systems available) and a set of ramps for loading in.

If you find a 'fleet' model of a van, they'll be just about ready to go. Acquire some good rubbermaid rolling carts to package and load your gear on. Roll them up into the van, and strap them against the walls to secure them while travelling.

Rick, nice Van, I like it very much, especially the aluminum cases, very safety stuff you got there. Did you build all by yourself? also Any pics of the platform?

Thanks Richard for your comments, I'll keep them in mind.

Thanks Alexis,

I designed it, someone else built it.

I'll e-mail you the platform pics. I don't generaly like posting exterior shots of the van for obvious security reasons.

Where are you located?
