Thinking about getting this package from B&H

Does anybody have this bag that comes with it? It looks pretty good and is within 'carry-on' dimensions which is important for me. (The Porta-brace is a little too big, I think)

How many extra accesories can I get in it?
Will it take a PD170 with an AT897 mounted on it?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Your post didn't include a link but B&H has a PD170 package that includes a Petrol bag and rain cover. I have this bag and am please with it. Along with the camera, it carries a couple of the large batteries, an on-cam light, a small mic (not attached to the cam), a box of tapes, and a couple of small screwdrivers and misc items. I can't answer your question about the AT897.

How durable is it?

I have that bag and am very pleased with it. It's firm and is well padded.

I carry two 960 batteries (one on the camera), wide angle lens with hood, stock mic, head phones, rain cover, a few tapes, the supplied rca and power cables, large desicant bag, two tripod plates (one attached to the camera), and a small penlight.

I don't carry it in the bag but my AT835B fits with all the other gear in there too. (not on the camera)

There is only about 3 inches clearance between the front of the mic mount and the bag interior front so keeping your mic mounted is not an option. I wouldn't want to transport one like that anyway. Too easy to damage something. It takes less than 20 seconds to break it down.

The Petrol bag is definitely well made and durable.
Just to clarify my previous post, I carry my on-cam light in the bag but don't attach it to the cam.
This is a practical, solid, handsome bag.

Got the camera and the bag today and have a quick question, what is the strap inside the bag supposed to do? Is it to secure the camera somehow? I can't seem to get it to fit tightly.

The strap wraps around the camera to secure it. You tighten the strap by pulling the end through the plastic loop until it is the length you want.

I took the straps out of both of mine out since I always have so much stuff in the bag that the camera is going no place.

You can get a long microphone into the case when it is mounted on the camera if you use a CAC-12 microphone mount. I regularly leave my AT835B with wind sock on the camera and get it inside the bag. The CAC-12 has a ball-joint that allows you to reverse the microphone.

I've got the blue bag and it works fine for me....

But here is a different bag that would work quite well
also....

I might have gotten it instead if I could have put them
side by side for a compair...
