I am trying to mount AT822 on GS400 camcorder. Can anyone tell me the differnce between K-Tek K-CAM-SM and K-CAM-SSM, and which one I need, please? Is a K-Tek shockmount the option for my set-up? And is there a room for Mighty-Wondercam (Videosmith) Mini Rover? What will be the benefit in my situation, with a Mini Rover? By the way, I usually use either a tripod or monopod.

Sorry about too many questions! Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Michael

Sorry about my sloppiness, but I meant to ask if a K-Tek shockmount is the best option for my set-up (AT822 with GS400)? I am eager to experiment with a K-Tek and a Mini Rover.

Thanks!

Michael

It's a tough call. the KSSM is a short version of the KSM. The KSSM bands arre about 1 1/2" apart. I think the KSM bands are 3" apart. There are also two different types of rubber mounts, a standard and a soft mount.

It will depend on what you will be putting on the mic so far as wind protection. I get away with using a KSSM with a MKH60 but that's without a softie. I've never handled that mic but it looks very front heavy, in which case id say use a KSM.

Best plan would be to take a trip down to location sound or Coffey sound and try it out. You could also email Manfred Klemme at info@mklemme.com (He's in LA)

Mini Rovers are good.

Thanks, Bryan!

Unfortunately, I don’t see either Location Sound or Coffey Sound around here in the Central California area to try the accessories. As such, I have to rely on the information I get thru the Internet search when purchasing new equipment or accessory. As you suggested, I will contact Manfred Klemme at once.
