Hi Folks,

We wound up going with the ChaseCam for our road video and the results are good. Now however we need to take that MPEG 2, edit, and burn to DVD with minimal loss of quality. iMovie (I can hear the snickers now!!) just isn't cutting it so does anyone have any suggestions? Right now this is a 1 time project so the budget is low.

Thanks!

John

What else do you have? Toast will make a very good DVD but the preset menus are lacking.

Hi William,

We only have iDVD. I think that the issue that we are having is the conversion from MPEG 2 to MOV (so that iMovie can work with the files) is creating a quality loss.

Thanks,

John

Are you using MPEGStreamclip? If you are, make sure the quality slider is at 100%.

Hi William,

Yes, we are. So far it comes the closest to the actual quality that we can find.

Thanks,

John

Upgrade to DVD Studio Pro- that's the best way to get better control over quality.

Look with at the footage with VLC and see if the problem is with the original footage. I use MPEGStreamclip all the time and the resulting files are as close to the originals as you can expect. Near identical. Is the camera actually producing full resolution video files?
