has anyone heard of or know of any hardware that will transmit video footage to say a laptop wireless - i have a digital still [nikon] and it has a wireless transmitter that allows me to send photo's directly to my lap top and was wondering was there something out there that will send a video signal also

thanks

I've never heard of anything. Bandwidth would be quite large
(compared to just a still) which might limit it as well. For example:
the current computer (digital) wireless standards are only 11 or
54 mbit. 54 mbit in theory could (just) handle DV, but I doubt it
is reliable enough to actually do so. Newer standards are coming
out to handle 100+ mbit/s. So then it may be good enough to do
so, so perhaps equipment will appear at that time to do so (doubt
it, but who knows!).

It's probably cheaper (in the end) to just go with a direct-to-disk
recording device.

There was a lot of talk about a "Wireless 1394" standard back in 2002, but then nothing came of it.

Not sure how good the quality is but if you had a TV tuner card in you laptop/PC then the Laird Waveshot might work.

To me that quality would be totally unacceptable with the amount
of money invested in the camera's. DV will look a lot better!

Maybe a analog transmitter like the Araneus AVS5811 would work.
You would still have to use something like a Data Video A to D converter
on the receving end like the DAC100 to change it back to firewire.

i think the sony trv-950 has an option to transmit video wireless.
I do not remeber what is the media (wifi or ilink ?)
