A question about HD capture from Jyhd10 to PC. When I record footage and play it back on my TV it looks amazing. When I take the same footage, transfer it through firewire to my PC. It comes out extremely dark. ( I can adjust it in post). I just was wondering if that was normal. Or what can cause that.(ie crapy firewire cable???/)..Has anyone else experienced this?

FireWire is digital so that is not the issue. Check your graphics card's Overlay settings as they have independent brightness, constract and gamma controls for calibrating video output/playback on the desktop.

No, it is not normal. On my pc, my TV used as monitor and on my big tv the brightness is always the same.

Thanks. That is good to know. Any ideas of what might cause that. It must be the video card.. Anyway thanks for your help.

You didn't say what program you are viewing the 'dark' footage in....

If it's in any of the 'playback' appz like Win Media Player, PowerDVD, WinDVD or the like, you will need to tweak the Brightness, Contrast and Gamma settings within the app.

If it's in the MPEG Studio app that comes with the HD10, then you need to adjust your video card's video overlay settings as David N suggested.

If you are getting the footage looking fine from the camera direct to your TV, it's very unlikely to be the IEEE1394 connection...
