Ok dumm question, I searched the boards a bit and didn't see an answer.
As you can see from this thread
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/non-linear-editing-pc/402629-pinnacle-12-new-dell-pc-about-2-order-help.html
I am buying a new pc soon. I have pinacle ulltimate 12 in the box. Looking to render HD video of the kids playing sports, family events etc.... would I get faster results with diff software? Pinnacle 12 ult is 32 bit, is there true 64 bit software out there that will run better faster on a new dell system?
Help a rookie :-)
Thanks!
Paul

Vegas Pro 9 comes in two versions: 32-bit version and 64-bit version. I, personally, like the 64-bit version but I'm also still running the 32-bit version as well. All I can suggest is that you give it a try.

A Look at Sony Vegas Pro 9 (http://www.osnews.com/story/21606/A_Look_at_Sony_Vegas_Pro_9)
So this guy's review says
"Finally, the 64bit version of Vegas Pro 9 has seen a refresh with some fixes, but the fundamental problems it had with version 8.1 remain: no access to [most] 32bit plugins and codecs. I personally run Vista 64bit on my beefed up video editing station, but I prefer to still use the 32bit of Vegas."
so there are 2 completely diff versions?

As Edward already said, yes there are.
Look at the Vegas Pro 9 (http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/vegaspro) download page and you'll see both a 32-bit and a 64-bit version of it.
BTW, you get both versions for one price.

Vegas is the cheapest of the Pro level apps. FCP is about $1k, Avid $2500, Premiere about $1200. Not sure what Edius costs. If $500 is giving you sticker shock, then yea, it's going to be tough to jump into that world.
