Hi guys

With the popularity of HDV now, this presents the possibility
of creating motion tracked SD video from the HDV video with no quality loss. Apart from After Effects, does anyone know of a program that does motion tracking and will render out a SD file from HD source footage????

cheers

Tim,

With Aspect HD we recognized this opportunity early on. Our first release had a real-time filter we call PZR (Pan, Zoom, Rotate) which allows you in one filter to do all three functions. If you are going out to standard def, and your zoom isn't closer than a 720x480 region, then as you state you don't lose any resolution. If you do zoom closer then of course we interpolate back up to 720x480. The filter is keyframeable.

Was this filter part of an editing program, or a standalone package?
I use Vegas 5 and it's easy to do the pan, zoom and rotate thing with keyframes, but time consuming.
I am wondering if there was anything that automates the task??
AE seems to do it quite nicely, but don't want to spend that kind of money just to do that.

Tim,

Within Aspect HD, which only supports PremPro, it is one of the RT filters we wrote for specifically the need you raised. Because we don't provide filters for either Vegas or the v1.5.1 release of PremPro, our PZR filter is not available without Aspect HD.
