I just received my FS-4 Friday and the battery won't charge. Am I doing something wrong? It was very difficult to slide the batter into place and even more difficult to remove it.
Also, can the FS-4 timecode be set to match the camera's timecode? I'm using a Sony 390.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,
Here is the correct charger status light sequence for FS-4...
States of Charge LED
_* Off ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ No Charger Connected
_* Green ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Charge Cycle Complete
_* Amber/Green ___ ___ __ Float Charge Mode (Charge almost complete)
_* Amber__ _ ___ ___ ___ ___ Fast Charge Mode (Maximum Charge Rate)
_* Red ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Charger Error
_* Red/Amber ___ ___ ___ No battery installed / battery error
_* Amber Blink ___ ___ Charger voltage insufficient
If your unit is not charging, please contact Focus tech support at support@focusinfo.com or 408-866-4859. They will take care of this for you.
Set the timecode mode to EXT TC, and FS-4 will record the timecode being generated by the camcorder.
Hope that helps,
Matt

Thanks Matt.
The LED shows steady amber.
With just the battery connected, if I press the power button, nothing happens. But if I connect the AC power within a couple of seconds the unit comes on.

Hi Joe,
Let the unit charge for a little while first. The battery may be totally flat from the factory. You should give it a full charge before the first use. If this problem persists, contact our tech support at the email/number below and they will get you up an running.
Hope that helps,
Matt

A quick update. I received a very quick reply from Focus Enhancements. They are replacing the FS-4 with a new one via FedEx.
So far so good.
