I'm thinking about buying one of these very soon (Silver Arrow) and does any one have any information I might need to know before I get it? Any information will be very helpful.

Thanks guys...

The Basson seems to be great for the price, but you might want to check out the forum at Home Built Stabilizer:

The arm seems to be a bit funky, but probably solvable. I've messed around with the Basson and the new Steadicam for cameras under 15 lbs, and the steadicam is a world better if you are using it with the lighter cameras of course. It just "felt" better and uses the iso-elastic arm that you find on the much higher end models. If I were going to spend this kind of money, I'd wait and head for NAB in mid April so you could try out all of the systems available personally. (Though I'm not sure if a Basson will be there).

Good luck!

Thanks for the link! Yes the rig I'm considering is the SiverArrow925. It will hold cameras from 15 to 27 lbs. I'll drop in the other forum and see if I can get some advice on this product.

Thanks again!

Steven:

Try doing a search at the steadicamforum.com. Not many favorable comments on the Basson system there.

Here's a link to the Basson forum started by Jason, who has now gone over to a steadicam provid system. he still runs the basson forum, so check there to get his and other members advice.
