Yesterday I was shooting afriend of mine playing an old Martin guitar on his patio at water level on Maimi Beach. I tried to use on of my akg's with a normal wind screen, and between wind rumble, boats, helicopters and jet skis, it wasn't happening.
So I took my at 897( with lihtwave wind protector) off the camera, and close mic'd the gtr. The sound was really good...rich bottom, clear upper strings, and no noise. then just for fun we added a flute player, another accoustic gtr, and a bongo player, all still accoustic with only the 897. It still sounded pretty dood.
