A friend and I are comparing notes from the folks we talk to about whether a single or dual processor system is needed to edit HDV. Can anyone spell out what you get for the extra money of a dual processor system.

Also, any names of resellers who make a turnkey daul for editing?

I guess it depends on how much money vs how much time you have. A dual processor computer will almost ALWAYS be faster than a single processor one (I actually can't think of a situation where it wouldn't be). It depends on the programs, the workflow, your work habits and the computer. Almost any company that sells video specific turnkey systems will have Dual Processor machines available. Check B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=breadCrumb&A=FetchChildren&Q=&ci=9581) for starters, they offer some but there are just too many options to even begin listing here.

However, with Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and Aspect HD 3.0 I am able to edit in realtime without a problem. My once superior system is now about the bottom recommendation - one 3GHz processor with 1.5GB RAM.
