I am using FCP HD and I am getting the following message "Validating DV audio", I get it whenever I am done importing the video form the tape deck and then it goes on and on what happens next I get this very large file that takes up my entire HD. I remember this happening a long time ago yet I cannot recall what I did to fix it.
Help I am in dire straits project needs to be done tonight……isn’t it always like this.

It sounds like it is converting the audio to another format. Are
you sure the projects audio settings are 48 KHz in either 16 or
12 bits (depending on how which DV setting the camera recorded)?
That's the best I can do...

The audio came from my camera before had the problem before until after a guy who hooked up his FireWire drive to my G4. Audio was 48 KHz as well.
I get that error plus anther one that just started "General Error” something new that is occurring I just do not know.
By the way thanks for the reply.
