I used to be able to subscribe to a specific forum
with the older forum format.

How can I do it in this new version?

You know, I've never used that feature myself, but I think I know how to do it. On the forum title bar click on the "Forum Tools" link. On the screen that appears you would then click on the "Subscribe to this Forum" link. Then using the control panel you can manage your subscriptions.
