As you may know I shoot a lot of aviation and air shows. I have finally got round to trying the NanoFlash with my HXR-MC1 HD mini-cam. All I can say is Wow! The MC1 is an excellent device anyway and I have been getting stunning results from it on it's own. Using it with the NanoFlash takes it to another league. The MC1 records internally to AVCHD and on the whole it's pretty good. But when you use it with the NanoFlash there is a lot less noise and fewer artifacts. In addition it eliminates the need to transcode from AVCHD to prores in order to be able to edit the footage on a mac which makes the workflow so much faster. Plus I have my rushes in the same codec as I use for everything else. It's not a perfect system yet, I need to source a short HDMI to HDMI mini cable and look at battery and remote control options for the Nano. I have been using some 7.2V sony batteries to power it, but I think I can find something more appropriate.
