I'm diving into that next level of production, and we're looking to purchase a JVC GY-HM700. I already have a Libec LS-38 with the H38 head I've been using for my 5Dmkii for video. The Libec supports up to 17.5 pounds, so I should be good on the weight.

My question is about the HM700 - do I need to purchase the KA551U Tripod Adapter plate for $275? Or can I just purchase and extra plate for my Libec head and use that?

I am using HM700 with the Libec 38..
I had to buy the Sony plate for the camera. It's like the JVC plate but cheaper.

The Sony VCT-U14 is cheaper, but also way less durable than the Sony VCT-14 which probably cost about the same as JVC. Using your gear a lot i would not save the 100$ or so on the connection with my tripod...

And of course, what a difference a day makes. I talked them into the extra cash for a Sony EX3 instead, plus the DM Shoulder mount. Where can I find an additional quick release plate to use with my Libec H38 head?
