I have a Sony xr500, which is a great camera, but developed an issue with drop out type lines on the right half of the screen. It tends to go away after a few minutes of use, but is back again, after it has sat for awhile. Thoughts.

Also, this is such a great little camera, I'm surprised there's not more posts about it.

Are the glitches on the LCD, the VF, or do they record? That will help narrow the problem, The fact it's intermittent is indicative of the sort of thing that probably will require professional repair.

It is a great little camera, very much under-rated.

It's worse in record mode. Is only on the right side of the screen. Seems to me like there may be two sensors and this is one of them acting up. It clears up after about 30 seconds. It is recorded.

Sounds like a bad sensor block - AFAIK the sensor is a single chip, but sounds like somehow it's shorting or not getting proper power, which "cures" once the chip comes up to operating temperature. Haven't torn down one of these specifically, but you're talking about some serious micro electronics, not a "field repair" or user serviceable issue. I'd talk to Sony about warranty... They can check the serial # for mfr date if you don't have receipts, should still have SOME warranty?
