View Full Version : Problem rendering HD H264 at longer time lengths

Hi all,

I have a little over 1.5 hour project I want to render in 720 resolution. MainConcept has been problematic before where it will render useless files. The Sony encoder seems to work better, but just now when the file finished rendering I tried to open it with VLC and I got an error message.

Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to be with higher resolution settings and longer times. I'm setting the bitrate at 4 million bps for the video end. What can I do to fix this? I'd like to be able to use something inside Vegas, but if this is something that can't be fixed what about frameserving?

Thanks

did you try the sony avc at 4mb, thats a h.264 codec, I prefer it to mpeg4, if you run into problems with a long render do you have sufficient ram, and other programs running in the background are going to use up ram needed to render,

Hi Hugh, thanks for the reply. Sorry, I just saw this. I'm using the Sony AVC encoder. I'm not sure if it's a RAM issue. I have 2 GB physical and 4 GB virtual (unfortunately not 4 GB physical because of my POS mobo which crashes with 2 sticks inserted). In Vegas I get the message that the file has finished rendering, but when I go to open it it's unreadable. I've noticed this happens with longer file times (at some point over an hour) and higher resolutions such as 720 and 1080.

Has anyone tried to render a 2 hour file at 720 or 1080 using the Sony AVC encoder and had success?

Another thing that came to mind is, will the MTS File Joiner work to join rendered mp4 files together?
