How is the best way to create a sepia tone for a live-action scene?

I'm trying to get a good sepia in Channel Mixer, but am not happy with my results thusfar.

Any suggestions?

There's probably a zillion ways to do it, but you might try making the footage black and white then put a colored matte on the next track above. Select a color for the matte that you think is close and lower the opacity. Play with the opacity and the color until you get what you want.

Way zillion +1: use tint filter, set blacks to a reddish dark color (like r66,g33,b6) and highlights to a yellower color (like r245, g228, g182) or to suit your taste; gives sort of the effect of an old, yellowed black and white film...if that's what you're after.../ Battle Vaughan
