Color Correcting --There's no real difference in that part of the workflow between DV and HD(v). Color work is still color work.
Shooting it properly if the first thing. White Balance properly, expose properly and the color should be right straight out of the camera. No different that shooting DV. However in the cases where the color is wonky and CC is needed to make it right, the first thing is to view the footage on a properly calibrated production monitor or an HD TV monitor also properly calibrated. (most folks don't know how to set their big screen HD TVs up...sigh) Then CC just like in DV no difference. CC, secondary CC, Color Curves, Levels...I also use NewBlueFX Essentials Color Fixer to help out.

You just want the best. Oh, that's easy. There is a simple formula for getting the best video possible, but I forgot what it is.

You don't tell us if their is a problem with the video to begin with. That would help. Color correcting is usually done when the colors are not right. If your colors are off, then tell what the problem is.
