Does anyone use false color with this monitor? I'm used to using false color from shooting with Red and it works really well. On the 7d - through hdmi, I couldn't get it to show me areas that were blown out (go the color red-the monitor shows overexposed areas as red). Anyone else had this experience? The areas were defiantly over exposed - the monitor would go yellow but not red.

I then tried a sony video camera with hdmi and had the same result - with hdmi. However, when I used a composite connection the monitor would show me areas over exposed (go red).

Any ideas? Is there some sort of limiting feature built in to hdmi?

I just tested it out with the 7D. Regarding the false color, I only get yellow, and I tested yellow marked footage against the Canon's metering and I definitely can't go off yellow being overexposed, because it's not. Therefore, I won't be using false color on it. I wish it had zebras though! Doh!

I really hope they fix this problem. The main reason I was looking at this monitor was because of false color. I wish it had zebras too!

Tony, this is the reply for a engineer form marshall asked about this problem:

Hi Carlos,

The false colors using the HDMI input Does Not show red colors as over
exposed. We have seen this problem and currently are working on a fix for
it. We should have a solution for the problem very soon.
