I am curios how Canon IS lenses work in video mode on the 7D. I was reading a review on photo site about the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS USM and this is how it described the IS

"In real use ... Pressing the shutter release half way engages the image stabilizer - a click and quiet hum (low growl) are heard and the viewfinder image becomes still (very nice)."

In video mode does the image stabilizer work continually?

Try a search first of all - it's being discussed here http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/canon-eos-7d-hd/467074-canon-70-200-f2-8-needed.html

Thanks Steve

I did a search Canon IS and there were tons of threads not relating to this search. I appreciate the help in finding the info.

IS is on full time in Live View. To observe this zoom to X10; then pan and stop - you will see the image coast to a stop. Turn off IS and try this and the image stops abruptly. Another way is to just check the video sound - with IS on you can hear it working in the background.
