I see newer video cards are including HDMI out in addition to DVI out, Can you use the HDMI out to see the program monitor on say an LCD while at the same time using the DVI out to your computer monitor???

Thanks

Most cards that include both allow dual output, so, yes.

my hint is to test each videocard before you make the final decision, e.g. a FX1800 direct connected to a HDMI based 24" screen from LG (L245WP) didn't work, i.e. the picture was not centered, with some tweeking I got an unacceptable soft picture. A cheap ATI (HD4670) card didn't give me a problem.

It's maybe worth to look to some special cards from Grass Valley or Matrox too.

Ben

I have a 26inch 1080P HDTV attached to a ATI4870 card via a DVI to HDMI dongle (supplied with card). Works perfectly. I set a new project parameters on the new sequence screen, second tab, General by clicking the Playback settings, then selecting the TV as the external device.

This the shows whatever monitor is active at the time, either source monitor or timeline.

This method also works for full screen previews within Encore as well.
