I need some help deciding between a skater-type device, like the Omni Tracker, or a slider--either a DIY version or the pocket dolly made by Kessler. I want something portable with relatively simple set up. A slider will satisfy most of my basic needs, I think, but I'd also like to be able to get some "curved" moves.

As I understand it, a slider will involve setting up the slider on either one stand, perhaps two, for support. The skater would require bringing a flat, level surface such as a tabletop on a set of saw horses. Either way I'm carrying some support structures.

For those who've used these devices, does one offer a particular advantage over the other in terms of functionality and ease of use?

Thank you

i have both, slider is much easier to use. Skate can do more in theory, but you have have some sort of portable table. Can be awkward.
