We're working on an educational title regarding handicapped people and accessibility. Has anyone a clue where I could look for grant money to defer the costs associated with this production?

Contact the Small Business Development Center for your city, county or state. The easiest way to find them would be to google "(city or state) Small Business Development Center". They are a government funded office and would probably be best equipped to point you toward the resources you need. You would probably want to employ the services of a grant writer.

It's worth a little bit of research, but I have a few friends that are grant writers and they tell me that sub-$100k projects are seldom worth the time and effort looking for grants. Grants come with a lot of strings and red tape. But I'd still look into it.

Try grants.gov and if you or someone on the project is affiliated with a college or university they probably have an office to steer people towards appropriate grant resources for such projects.

I did look at grants.gov Its search engine was broken (fed govt- expect anything else?). Every time I searched, it returned the same number of items as when you started.
