ESPN announced the same thing for 2010 this afternoon:

Is this going to be anaglyphs or will they air two separate streams and it will be up to the receiver to convert it into whatever 3D format the TV/monitor can display best?

It definitely will not be anaglyph, but more likely a single stream encoded in side by side, interleave, or something like Sensio. A dual-stream format compatible with the new TVs being announced this week at CES is also a possibility but it raises the question about cable/satellite compatibility with current infrastructure. In other words will it be single stream compatible with current signal distribution systems (like simple side-by-side squashed that NHK uses in Japan) or will you have to rent a new decoding box from your provider that will convert it into the S3D format of your display?

I'm sure there will be more details coming soon from CES.

As Tim said, there is quite a bit in the works. The early channels just need to be compatible with some of the products already in or upcoming, as well as those that can be perhaps S/W updated, and don't have to wait for standards.
