Does anyone have any experience yet with this combination? We have 4 V1-U cameras in our studio that we check out to the Producers covering meetings/events. Despite the low light issues with the camera is this something worth pursuing?

I have a V1U and use it with the Nano.

I initially had a problem with the inability to get a progressive frame. since there was no PSF.

But now that CD added 3:2 pulldown, I love it.

Its a new camera.

It doesn't help the low light issues

But the higher bit rate and the 422 color space makes the camera much more usable.

Plus the ability to take your clips right into the editing bay saves so much time.

I also have EX1 w/ the SxS cards , but I use the nano instead, easer and faster.

I normally shoot an EX3 with the Nano. I don't want to sound jaded but with 1/4 CMOS sensors I just wondered what the Nano could really do for that particular camera. Is there any camera that you could equate the Nano/V1U combo to in terms of image quality?

I have both but never tried it as I have no interest in that combo. My EX3/nano is my only combo. In fact, I personally haven't used my V1 on any of my jobs since I took delivery of my EX3.

Actually it probably sums up things pretty well, at least for V1U owners who upgraded to EX3's. About the only plus I can see is recording longer events and using the Nano to eliminate tape changes with appropriate bit rates.

So, if I have a V1U, and am shooting green-screen stuff, then adding a nanoFlash would improve the compositing significantly?

Adding a nanoflash to your Sony V1u will make green screen work much easier.

We receive many reports from our friends that are using the nanoFlash, with a very wide variety of cameras, that green screen work is far better with the nanoFlash.
