Hi Folks!

I'm making a music video on an infinite white background. Since there's lot's of fast dancing, was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best shutter speed to use?

Other info:

Camera - Sony HVR HD1000U (single CMOS camera)

Lots (& lots!) of lights.

Thanks y'all!

Just use the cam's default of 1/60.

1/60, unless you want the disco look - then crank it up (and get more lights).

Yup, 1/60 UNLESS you are looking for the strobing effect that comes with higher shutter speeds (think of the look of the tight follow cam in world championship swimming events).

I'm actually just finishing up an edit on a dance show right now. If you're shooting 30p or 60i I'd use 1/60th. If shooting 24p I use 1/48th. Either of these shutter speeds give a pleasant amount of motion blur and avoids unnatural looking strobing and judder.

That's just my opinion.

He's using the HD1000U, so his only option is 60i.

Sorry, missed that little bit. Then 1/60th would be my choice.

Looks like 1/60 it is!
