Hi All,

Can some one explain this to me please;

In my project I film with 5d MarkII, as well as XLH1.
With my XL-H1 I film on tape as well as Firestore FS-4.
I use PP CS4 for editing and I have ProspectHD, I also am in the PAL zone.

How should I go about it?
First of all should I convert the 5d MOV files to AVI using ProspectHD, what setting?
Should I change the frame rate from 29.97 to 25?
What happen to the slowmotion, can I some how avoid it?
What about the encoder option, is it really working if I change the frame format to Progressive?

What about my XL-H1 files, I am using the M2T files from Firestore, should I resize them with ProspectHD from 1440x1080 to 1920x1080 to much 5D files so I can use them in the same project?

I did a test of changing XL-H1 50i files to 25 Progressive but when I import them to Premiere they look interlaced and it is very bad specially when there is a movement.

Many thanks in advance
Mitchell

Is there any advantage of converting the M2T files to AVI?

Re-phrase you core question, what problem are you trying to solve? If I answer yes, yes, no, no, to you many question I would be making assumptions about your workflow.

Question might be. "Making PAL DVD with these two sources..., how do I get the best result for interlaced display (or progressive)"

David,

Thank you for the reply, my first question is how do I mix the two different type of media mentioned above in the same project, should I convert them both to AVI using ProspectHD?

2nd, Can I also change them from 50i to Progressive? I did that for my M2T files using ProspectHD but they don't look good!

Also with my 5D MII files, I have the latest Canon Firmware on the camera, I believe the frame rate is 29.97, should I change it to 25, (as my Canon XL-H1 files are 50i PAL) if so what happens to the audio and video, it will be slowmotion, wouldn't be? How can I fix that issue and have it at normal speed but in PAL?

Cheers
Mitchell

You first question is too vague, as you could just through on any timeline as is. You need to know where you are going to output, what format, resolution and experience you want the audience to have. Lot to all the questions on how to much the best DVD or H.264 internet upload.

50i to progressive, you need to deinterlace. Select the encode to you progressive alone is not sufficient if you source is interlaced.

First of all thank you for the help.

My work is mainly output to best quality DVD or Blu-ray.
So you mean that I have to first encode to progressive in ProspectHd and then deinterlace in Premier Pro?

cheers
