Has the Snow Leopard 2.2 gamma change stopped Mac videos looking washed out on PC's? As I understood it there were two facets to this problem. Firstly, when exporting H264 from Final Cut the resulting video would look washed out compared to the original in FCP.

I have now upgraded to the latest version of FCS which seems to have cured the gamma shift on my Mac, I am now getting no difference. However, and here is part two, my videos that I upload to Exposureroom look washed out when I look at them on my friends PC.

Anybody know if the Snow Leopard 2.2 native gamma has cured this problem?

It has not cured the problem. I used Avid's DNxHD codec to go back and forth with Mac <-> PC and I do not get the gamma shift issue. Works seamlessly. ProRes... not so much.

Heard of that Perrone. I didn't think that could be used on sites such as Exposureroom or Vimeo?

Ah yes, you're right. It can't. But what MIGHT be worth exploring is if the render to h.264 from DNxHD exhibits the shift, or if it's only with a ProRes source that you see the problem. I don't have a Mac, or I'd test this myself.

Good thinking Peronne!

I'll see what occurs!
