This is interesting, but expensive, $8K. But very flexible solution. Pretty much camera and NLE codec agnostic via HD-SDI and HDMI.

The 4:2:2 and 10bits sounds very good. If it's recording at 100 Mb/s or better, I just might get one. If the rate is less than 50 Mb/s, I would prefer the nanoFlash.

Hi Ken,

Bit-rate comparisons are misleading. Cineform is a variable-rate wavelet-based compression scheme, and gives a far higher fidelity recording for a given bit rate than mpg2.

It is like comparing mp3 to mp4...bit for bit you get better fidelity with the better codec.

I don't claim to be an expert on all the technical details, so please check out CineForm's website Cineform (http://www.cineform.com) for a complete technical overview of why this is so.

Technicolor and a lot of other high-end post houses are starting to use it because of this and their excellent workflows.

best,

Charles
