I hate posting critiques of peoples clips without putting one of my own up (hi Rich). So here we go.

I went for a stripped-down use of grading on this clip. Trying to make it look more natural than usual.

All criticisms welcome. especially if you like/dislike the vertigo shot.

Hi Aaron,

Some really nice creative shots and good composition overall.

Not sure about the music and definately did not like the 'Time waits for no one' for
a wedding trailer!

Also noticed the gliding was a little unsteady. What glidecam are you using. Looks like it needs to be set up better.

I like vocals in clips. It adds more to the piece, but this was quite short so not a problem

Thx for sharing.

hey Aaron

basically everything John said there!

I esp loved the mirror-writing shot, and the silhouette shot. both worked really well.

And nice that it was short and sweet too. Def. whets the appetite for the B+G/guests

I always have a problem with clips that say 'coming soon' accompanying a shot of the Bride and Groom, but that's just my dirty mind, LOL ;)

cheers

Thanks for your replies John & Rich.

John – I know what you mean about the music, but the couple loved the band so I thought ‘what the hell’. We use the Glidecam 4000, and I know some shots are unsteady, but they are getting better. I agree about vocals – I much prefer them, but as it’s a trailer I didn’t want to use it as it gave too much away rather than teasing the clients as it should.

Richard – You need to clean that mind of yours ;)
Seriously though, I know what you mean and I am looking into other ways of improving them. I just wanted to keep this one short and stripped down. Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of the “Two Families Come Together” bold entry text. I always read it in my mind as the bloke who does the V/Os for movie trailers (you know the one who sounds like he gargles nails). I wouldn’t be able to put one together without laughing too hard.

PS. I promise to work harder on the GC.

Cheers
Aaron
