I'm trying to output a spot for broadcast and when I send it through AME to a QT HD file it really looks bad. The whole spot looks like it has a grey filter over it and is VERY muddy. I output it to Mpeg2 HD and it looks great. Any ideas on what is messing with the QT file??

Think I have it figured out. I had the render at maximum bit depth box checked and soon as I unchecked that box and did the output again all the color seems to come back to the file. Strange....

If you are on a MAC it does not apply, but on a PC it does.

QuiRckTime (notice the R?) has gained quite a reputation for its quirky behavior. If you don't need that stuff, don't even install it. It is not worth the headaches it causes. There are many alternative formats that do what you want.

In general don't use Maximum Bit Depth, unless you have a BM or AJA card installed and ingested your material that way (10 bit over HD-SDI). Otherwise only use the fly-out menu in AME and set the option to use Maximum Render Quality.

QuiRckTime has been known to corrupt gamma curves from PR, causing color shifts.
