shot a wedding tonite with the r. as most who have shot with this cam know, the viewfinder is practically unusable, so i stuck with the lcd which is very good. i learned that you have to make sure you have the lcd tilted just right, if its up or down too much, the image changes brightness and this can be tricky . you may think you need to open up the iris more, but then it may be too bright when you tilt it more in line with your eyesight, i may have to try the hoodman loupe although ive heard its not the greatest, it better than nothing until something better comes out for this.
any others experience the viewing of the lcd at certain angles will vary contrast?

Jim, you say you shot with r ? The VF on the EX1r is very much improved compared to the EX1, which is virtually unusable for accurate focusing. Having to tilt the LCD for a decent image is common with all LCD screens. I always use zebra's to gauge reasonable exposure. BTW the Hoodman is very good.

Offcourse LCD has a certain viewing angle. Just use zebra and histogram to keep informed on the possible under- or overexposure. I think these tools can give you the extra information you need. The LCD isn't really calibrated, so as a real check on exposure it can be very misleading.

@ Colin:

the VF may be improved, but as soon as your eye moves you see the RGB channels insteds of the image. I guess that's what he is talking about.

That is really something new and annoying. Remembers me of the very old DLP beamers with 1x wheel speed where one thought to be on drugs while watching a movie...
