I have a collection of files that I need to give to a client who is editing in Adobe Premeir- Not sure what to output from final cut as I am very new to all of this. Any advice appreciated.

FCP can output to XDCAM EX .MP4 which Premiere CS4 should handle from what I understand.
Of course if they're looking for something else you should ask the editor. In fact as a RULE ask the editor since you do not want to give them a hellish workflow. NEVER make assumptions.

Premiere also reads the native files direct from the EX1/3 if that would be easier for you. Might not be an option if you've already done some work on it in FCP that you want to pass on to Premiere but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case.

Steve did you read my post with link? FCP can export back out to XDCAM EX .MP4. It doesn't create a BPAV folder and of course it can go beyond the 4GB of FAT32 but if all one needs is the EX native .mp4 of an edit, you can export that from FCP.

I edit my native EX1's .mp4 files in Premiere CS4, no problems.

Sure did Craig, I was just noting that you can bypass FCP altogether and not worry about exporting if all you're doing is providing the raw clips from the camera. The Media Browser in Premiere sees right through the BPAV folder structure to present all the clips in a given folder. EX footage is real easy to work with in Premiere.
