I have a half hour program that has passed (certification - Canada) and screening by one of the networks here. All that remains is to convert to Betacam or Digital Betacam while meeting technical standards.
Question.....
I have a choice of Betcam SP or Digital Betacam which is better for converting a mini DV (DVCAM) recording?
Bars: Does the color bars on my PD170 meet broadcast standards - NTSC (or does it really matter in the real world)? Also - I have to provide segments of "coherent black", is this just recording with the lens cap and and protected from any form of light, or do I have to get it from the editor I am using?
Tone:
The PD170 does not seem to have tone, am I correct here? Also, my AVID editor has a tone producer and is set at 1000hz with a db level of -14 and reproduced on one channel. But if I go with digital betacam, should the db be set to -20? Should I go with the one channel default setting on tone or two channels?
This is my first time putting a show on the air.....anything else I should know at this stage before I submit the tape?
