Hi,

Does anybody know what type of format are most of the documentaries shown on channels like Discovery, National Geographic and the History Channel shot with? Do they only accept documentaries that were shot on HD or film for example? Or do they also accept documentaries shot on DV and SD, as long as the documentaries are good in content and style?

The better the subject, the less picky they are. You have a better chance with Discovery for HD projects, the others dont care as much. I know many of the docs shown are shot on DV... many on 2/3" cams though...

Thanks a lot Ash for getting back, so you think that if I shoot with a DVCAM DSR-390, along with a good script, style of shooting, animation and directing, you think that my documentary can make it into Discovery, the History channel and their likes?

It is not near as hard as it seems to get something quality on TV. There are soooo many channels now, they need content. That camera is plenty good for the down the dial stations. Just make sure the audio is good!
