Hi Folks,

I just bought a Rode NTG-1 mic and noticed that of the 3 pins, one is taller than the other two. Is this 'normal' because other mics have all the 3 pins at the same height.

In all probability it's just good engineering... should the mike be disconnected the signal would be cut before the power preventing damage to the gear.

This question has been posted many times. Røde's own FAQ also has the answer. Pin 3 is higher on purpose, and the reason is exactly what Mark said.
