Anyone brave enough to shoot a reception with one DSLR only? If so, how are you shooting bouquet/garter toss? I personally prefer to shoot alone at receptions. Less crossfire.

Typically my wife shoots our Canon A1 camera while I shoot DSLR through the major reception events. Once those are through I shoot the rest by myself with a DSLR. It works out well!

I shoot alone at the reception, DSLR only. I shoot face to face with the bride and have all the single ladies in the background.

I always use a camcorder at receptions because the speeches often go for more than 12 minutes each but I now carry a DSLR around my neck at all times. It's great for those moments when a camcorder is just too dark. If I wasn't doing speeches I would love to just use a DSLR for the whole night.

I always bring my XHA1 and 7D to reception because you never know how long the speech is going to least.
I use 7D to shoot always everything like the couple going into reception, the ambiance of the night, cake cutting and the dance. During the speech, I point the A1 at the speaker and point the 7D to the couples for reaction. It works great.
