Hello everyone.
The Front Shoe mount on my EX3 is a little loose so I am afraid that it will break or fall out.
Did this happen to anyone? If it did how can I tighten it?

I had the same problem. All you do is unclip the silver metal cover (I had to use a small screw driver to gently pop it off) and tighten the screws. However my screws seem to be slowly eating into the plate itself from the twisting action. I hope it doesn't loosen again, not sure how many times I could re-tighten it.

You may consider pulling the screws out and applying a little blue locktite to the threads, only a little and don't use the red.

Olof, any plans for a front shoe mount replacement? Even with tightened screws, it really can not carry a microphone in a (Sennheiser) shockmount for more than a dozen mobile sessions.

EDIT: My EX1 gets most of its use in hand-held operation. I realize that I am over-burdening the shoe mount. I run with two microphones: AT shotgun and Blue Dragonfly large diaphragm. The heavier Blue is on the hot shoe while the lighter AT is on a Lightwave shockmount that has replaced the stock EX1 shotgun mount. At this point, I need to retighten before every session.

2 years with a Rode SM3 mount carrying a Sony ECM678 on my EX3, hand held and Steadicam. Re-tightened once, and it's solid as new. That's a very large number of uses beyond a dozen...

Gints, it would be easy to make a mic holder that attaches to my "wing". Contact me if you are interested. I will quote you for a prototype. I could make it so it holds a light as well.

Tightened both of mine down as they get used a lot. Solid as a rock (well maybe not that good). I would caution people when tightening the screws. I wouldn't be surprised if the metal they are screwing into is a "soft" aluminium housing that a plagues a lot of electronic products.

I had the same problem with both the front and back shoe mounts getting loose. I put a Sennheiser receiver or Zylight Z90 on the front shoe and either the Sennheiser receiver or my PHU-60K on the back shoe. At one point the back shoe and the shoe attachment on the PHU-60K were so loose that the PHU-60K fell off, giving me a mild heart attack. I figured out how to tighten both and so far they are holding well. I didn't think of putting any lock-tite on the screws at the time, but if it ever loosens again I will.

My PHU-60K did fall off and snapped the small USB 2 port of the circuit board.
Totally useless and Sony don't do parts for it either.
So I don't know why they call it a Pro Product!!
