i wanted to create a high def photo, image, snapshot from advhc cineform file from canon hfs100. captured with save into a jpeg and it is a terrible resolution, viewable about 1x1.5 inches. cannot blow it up because of pixelation. so how do a get a better resolution stilll image that looks as good as the video in size? bill

Change the preview to Best - Full and then take the snapshot. Which exact version of Vegas are you using now?

thanks for your response. i just purchased vegas 9 pro two months ago, and havent used it until this week. the avchd fils is so small. so i go to preview, press full or best? i am new at this and needed a little help. had a video of a rare glacier bear in glacier bay alaska and didnt have the still camera with me, so hoping for a good hi res foto..not one that falls apart greater than 1.5 inches horizaontally.

The preview screen will give you many options. Click the icon and at the bottom of the menu is BEST-FULL. Set to that then pull your freeze frame. You might be able to improve it a bit in something like Photoshop to resize, crop, color what have you.

The one thing to do after you set your preview to best/full is to click on the diskette icon above the preview window. That will let you save that frame in a bitmap file in the png or jpg format (your choice).
